& Rehabilitation
At AAFY, we provide athletes and active individuals post-surgical physical therapy and training plans that allow you to stay active as you recover and your athletic injury heals.
We understand both the physical and emotional challenges of recovery. Our goal is to help you heal stronger and be better equipped to do more of what you love.
Unlike traditional physical therapy clinics that offer rushed visits and assistant handoffs, AAFY provides undivided attention and consistent care at each visit.
Using his expertise in both physical therapy and performance training, Dr. Will Trujillo will help you modify your favorite activities to maintain fitness levels and engagement throughout your recovery.
Heal, achieve your goals, and
do more of what you love without limits.
Want a Strong Recovery after Surgery?
We work with a wide range of injuries, including:
Rotator Cuff Surgery Recovery
Rotator cuff surgery can be a long and winding road and we are here every step of the way. Helping initially to guide you through a protective phase to ensure the tissues heal up, all the way to a return to sport phase where we are putting you through the paces so you can be confident your shoulder is ready for your desired sport.
Shoulder Surgery Recovery
There are a range of non-rotator cuff related shoulder surgeries that may affect active individuals. We will help you progress from a very controlled and safe post-operative state to regaining full mobility and strength in your shoulder!
Knee Surgery Recovery
Knee surgeries can vary greatly in their recovery timeline and complexity. No matter what procedure we will help you understand your unique progression and guide you with specific exercises that will prepare you to confidently return to the field at full strength.
Hip Labrum Surgery Recovery
More and more athletes are undergoing Hip labrum surgeries, both revisions and repairs. Our goal is to help you understand your particular procedure and progress you back to your sport. We will guide you from the initial recovery phase, returning to walking all the way to lifting and sprinting!
“Will is a great PT, especially when it comes to getting back from injuries that require the long slow progressions.
I tore my peck a little over a year ago and this required a lot of detail oriented therapy to slowly get me back to full strength while letting the peck heal completely. Will was there every week with support and a level of understanding from a high level athlete to keep me motivated but not overly aggressive because set backs are easy with this kind of injury. His programming was straight forward and effective. I would highly recommend Will's services to anyone.”

Physical therapy after surgery is an extremely useful intervention. Research shows that in many conditions physical therapy leads to better long term surgical outcomes. We can help guide you on the appropriate steps to maximize your recovery based on your specific procedure and unique injury. Let us help you take the guess work out of the road to recovery.

Immediately! In a lot of conditions we would love to see you in the first one to three days post operatively. Of course this will depend on the specific injury and we will work with your surgeon to do what is appropriate.
-
The amount of recovery time you need will vary based on your injury and its severity. We have patients who see us for less than one week all the way up to one year for certain surgeries. No practitioner can guarantee a specific timeline!!! We want to be fully honest and transparent with our patients, we will do our best to get you back as soon as possible!

The best way to reduce your injuries is to have a personalized consistent training regimen. If you have a workout plan that is tailored to your needs and specific goals it can help to reduce future injuries.
